A roadside specialty that has been sold at tea house along the banks of the Yui River since the Edo period. In "Tokaido Chu Hizakurige," it appears under the name "Satou Mochi. It is a confectionery made of anko (sweetened red bean paste) wrapped in white powder made from Uruchi rice, and is called "Tamago mochi" because it looks like an egg. Today, they can be purchased at Haruno Seika, which was founded in 1926.
