The village is located at the eastern foot of the Utsunoya Pass and is the place to go to cross the pass. The Ohaori-ya in the village is named after Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who was praised for his loyalty and received a haori. Later, Tokugawa Ieyasu visited the village and gave a bowl of tea as a gift. Even today, the Meiji-era townscape reminds us of the scenery of Ainoshuku in the Edo period.
